Gearbox repair enquiries: what details does the workshop need?
Nicks Garage Ltd ·
Send the exact vehicle and transmission, describe when the symptoms occur and include fault codes and previous work. Symptoms alone do not establish a repair or parts list.
Identify the unit before choosing parts
Two cars with the same badge can have different transmissions. Include the model, year, engine and gearbox type or code if known. A catalogue page or a photograph of a similar unit is not confirmation that an upgrade fits your car.
Nick's Garage assesses manual, dual-clutch and competition driveline enquiries in Livadia, Larnaca. GR6, Audi R8 and Huracan enquiries need the exact application identified before the scope and suitable parts can be discussed.
Describe the symptom, not a guessed diagnosis
Explain what happens and when: starting from cold, after warming up, selecting a gear or under a particular operating condition. If you have fault codes, share the original report rather than changing the wording.
A noise, warning or shift complaint does not prove that a complete gearbox replacement is required. Inspection may be needed to identify the cause and appropriate work. A message cannot replace assessment of the actual vehicle.
- Make, model, year, engine, transmission type and code if known.
- Symptoms and the conditions in which they occur.
- Fault codes, inspection reports and previous repair history.
- Current modifications and intended use or power target.
- Whether you are enquiring about a car, a loose unit or parts only.
Consider the complete driveline
Mechanical condition, controls, clutch and the surrounding driveline are considered together. A proposed component upgrade should be matched to the application rather than selected only by an advertised power figure.
Our site separates project evidence from service scope. The Audi R8 workshop archive and R35 examples can help explain the type of work discussed, but another project's specification is not an automatic recommendation for your unit.
Agree assessment and commercial terms
Inspection requirements, proposed work, parts, charges, timing, any deposit and applicable warranty terms must be confirmed for the particular job before proceeding. No standard rebuild price or turnaround is promised by this guide.
For an overseas or loose-unit enquiry, agree acceptance, packaging, transport arrangements and responsibility directly before sending anything. Do not dispatch a gearbox on the strength of a website enquiry. Prepare the details in our form and discuss the next step with the workshop.
